Julie Püttgen: Meditation & Inner Beauty
Group Instruction & RetreatsI teach meditation classes, workshops, and retreats for people of all ages and backgrounds - experienced meditators & newcomers; adults, teens, and children. Past and present group locations include: Dartmouth College, Hanover High School, Samuel Morey Elementary School, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Sewanee: The University of the South, and Valley Insight Meditation Society, AVA Gallery in Lebanon, NH; Atlanta's Red Clay Sangha; and the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies.
Guided Audio MeditationsI've recorded a selection of free guided audio meditations that you can use to support your practice.
Some of them - like the Coming Home Meditation - are intended as companions to the illustrated mini-meditation booklets I've designed to go inside the Inner Beauty Compact. Others - like the Becoming Animal Meditation are simply tools you may find helpful to open your heart. |
This advanced Inner Beauty Treatment asks: What happens when you come face to face with your inner Trump?
Inner BeautyI initially developed the Inner Beauty Project with my friend and collaborator, Elana Langer. Our starting point was an interest in marrying the seemingly quite different idioms & accoutrements of contemplative practice and spa culture. Why? We felt as though this marriage might offer interesting possibilities for conversations about beauty, authenticity, embodiment, and bearing witness to truth in this world. About the intersections of the sacred & the ordinary. About balancing care for the body and care for the soul, care for the self and care for the world.
Since then, Inner Beauty has grown in many wonderful ways: Elana and I developed a full line of Inner Beauty Products available for sale. I launched a successful Kickstarter campaign in the Spring of 2015. With that generous support, I set off on the Inner Beauty Pilgrimage to the Sacred-Ordinary Everywhere, driving 3000 miles from New Hampshire down to Atlanta and back, staging Inner Beauty events all along the way. Then, in October/November I traveled to the Bay Area for the 2nd wave of the ongoing pilgrimage. The Inner Beauty Project also offers Inner Beauty Treatments: participatory experiences that include elements of meditation, self-care, care of others, and mindful dialogue. One example is the Inner Beauty Pedicure: people take turns washing, drying, and oiling one another's feet. |
Just So SpaceIn 2012, I founded Just So Space, a community-based, non-sectarian home for meditation practice in the Buddhist traditions. Its aim is to make the benefits of meditation & contemplative creativity available to people of all ages and backgrounds, and to support honest conversations about life, its joys & difficulties, and the paths leading to ease, wisdom, and joy.
Since its inception, Just So Space has offered a variety of classes, groups and workshops, including the ongoing Old Dragons' Club, a nonsectarian women's group in the Buddhist traditions. Individual InstructionI offer individualized meditation instruction for people seeking to cultivate a sense of embodied well-being and creative purpose.
